Bonface was initially diagnosed with complete heart block (third-degree atrioventricular block), a life-threatening condition in which the electrical signals controlling the heartbeat are blocked. His doctors initially advised that he urgently required a permanent pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat and save his life. However, following further medical assessments, doctors discovered that Bonface is also battling a significant infection. They have explained that implanting a pacemaker while this infection is present could lead to serious complications and potentially make his condition even worse. As a result, the pacemaker procedure has been postponed until the infection has been fully investigated and treated. Bonface now requires several urgent diagnostic tests, including specialised CT scans, some of which can cost up to US$1,000 each. These investigations are essential to help his medical team determine the source of the infection, the extent of his condition, and the safest course of treatment before any surgery can be considered. In addition to these diagnostic tests, Bonface requires ongoing medical care, medications, regular hospital visits, transportation, and close monitoring while doctors work to determine the next steps in his treatment.
